Costas hummingbirds are quite
small, and they are probably
the most timid of all the
Socal hummers. Far less
frequent than the Annas or
Rufous-Allens, they are always
a bright point in a photo
session if they happen along.
The male has a bright purple
gorget, with very extended
'whiskers'. |
