Arachnids

Euophrys frontalis -juvenile

This is actually one of my favourite photographs, even though it looks fairly boring. This particular specimen was about 1.2mm in total length, and very, very active. Believe it or not, once I had setup my gear for a high magnification macro shot (this was shot at about 15X magnification), and had the spider on the leaf, it was approximately 7 hours before I hit the shutter button for the first time. I learned patience (and how to curse) in that session. This was taken many years ago, and a long time before the convenience of TTL flash and easy to use macro lenses. This shot required bellows, extension tubes, a microscope objective and tons and tons of light.
