Without a doubt, the most adaptable, flexible trigger system on the market today. For studio work, there is nothing better. It is not weatherproof, so wildlife work requires care to keep the controller out of the elements, but it is worth it. Bryan Mumford in Santa BarbaraCalifornia offers a plethora of sensors with the unit – acoustic, vibration, laser, ballistic and others. The user interface is simple (therefore takes quite a few button clicks to dial in timing parameters), and the LCD display is a helpful aid. This unit can also serve as a time-lapse controller. Runs from both a 9 volt battery and an included AC adapter. Bryan also provides dedicated cables for Nikon and Canon, modified to suit the Time Machine. It is noteworthy that Bryan developed the Time Machine from a system he developed for clockmakers and timekeeping pieces. If I remember correctly, the timing resolution of the Time Machine is 0.1 milliseconds – great for precision timing applications such as high speed flash.
